Today was the my neighborhood's 5K that kicks off the Arts festival.  Last year I came in 2nd and ran a 17:15, a PR.  Of course that was when I was peaking for my half.  Today my goal was adjusted a bit and it was to run around 6min miles.

At the start, I knew there were two guys faster than my goal pace.  I just let them drag me along as best as possible.  Unfortunately I knew both were in the Masters group, so I knew if they held up I'd miss out on my free pair of shoes.  Oh well, there is time to get those in the future.  One other guy went out to lead the first mile, but he faded nicely and we picked him off one at a time.  Long hill in the 3rd mile makes it a little slower.

5:53 ave pace

1 - 5:45

2 - 5:53

3 - 6:04

.1 - 5:22

Nice little warmup and warmdown finally gets me to 50 for the week.

Looking forward to the 5K next weekend.

Looking forward to the Chicago marathon tomorrow. Hopefully the streaming works well.  It is so nice to be able to stream one of these big marathons for free...

Great job Tim! You gotta be happy with a 5:50 pace. 50 mpw is a big milestone too, after such a big layoff!

Wow Bro-TimP....What a great comeback showing at this 5K. You are one fast dude, and I'll bet you were snadbagging it so as not to re-injure yourself. Congrats on the #3 overall and #1st in your AG!!!!!! Whats on the horizon for the Speedy TimP??????

Thanks JG - things are coming aling nicely.

Thanks Slick - just looking at 5Ks and 10Ks for the near future. I have a half in March but that's it for now.

Thanks Andy/Steam/Dale! On to the next one.

One really nice thing about the race is that I found out about a nice track near here that is lighted at night. I need to start up my track work again - so I might need to check out this one.

How do you do that??? I'm amazed at how fast you are even after not being able to train that hard.
