Wasn't sure if I'd make the drive up to this race today.  Yesterday after my run i started feeling a little pf in my left foot.  Kind of came up out of the blue.  But I wanted to try.  So I got up there and started warming up.  Luckily the race started 30 min later than I thought.  Got in 3 miles prior to the gun, and that really helped.

Took off at a 6:07 first mile and then settled into a pretty even pace for the last 5.2.  They were around 6:17-6:20.   I was really wheezy the whole race.  Not sure if that affected anything but it was annoying.

6:07, 6:20, 6:18, 6:17, 6:20, 6:19 , 5:35 (last .25=)

It was 4 sec slower per mile than mcmillan predicted off of the 5 miler two weeks ago, but given that I almost couldn't go, I'm ok.  But it is 22 sec slower than last year.  crap -

With all the injuries you've battled lately, I think it is very impressive that you were only 22 seconds off of last years time. Roll that pf with a golf ball. It really works..and hurts.

i agree with rhett -- impressive race. the 10k is the hardest distance out there, imo. :) you stayed very consistent throughout the race, and those 22 seconds can be explained by any number of things. nice job.

That's only my 5th 10k, which just seems weird, after all these years. At least it is around 80 sec faster that the last one on July 4.

Right now I just don't have the base to go any faster. Working on it :)

Anyway - the foot feels good. Not sure what the deal was. I'll keep an eye on it.
