Ran the 15 miler on Saturday.  I was trying for around 6 min pace, and was ok on the first 5 mile loop, but then my legs started to feel the race from a week ago.  And I was running the last 10 miles completely alone - no one in sight in front or behind me.  It was like a time trial, not a race.  I kept trying to click the miles away.  My legs were hurting quite a bit but I wanted to finish strong.  Unfortunately with 2 miles to go, my throat kind of locked up on me and I couldn't breathe for a few seconds.  I stopped and just about passed out.  But I collected myself after a minute and started going after I saw the guy who was behind me coming up.  I finished feeling ok but my throat hurt for the rest of the day.  I didn't know what happened.  It was pretty strange.

5 mile split - 30:46

10 mile split - 1:02:15

15 miles - 1:36:26 (14 second PR)

Never felt worse about a PR.  Two days later and my legs are still sore.  Lesson learned: don't race a 15 miler a week after racing a half.  Now I need to heal up for my half on Thanksgiving.

Wow, Tim, nice job on the PR. Too bad about the throat, that is quite strange. The passing out thing is familiar to me, it always happens when I push too hard. Not a good feeling. I think you did quite well considering your stellar half marathon a week ago.

How is your throat feeling now?

Thanks Dale - it feels fine today. It was one of those almost scary things.

Did you watch NYC yesterday? Good stuff

Tim, glad to hear the throat feels better.

I sure did watch NYC yesterday. Both mens and womens races were exciting. That dude that won really kicked it up a few notches the last couple of miles. That was very impressive. Same with the femail winner. They didn't look fatigued at all.

Great job on the PR. Scary about your throat. What's the deal with that?

From timp on Mon, Nov 08, 2010 at 11:44:20 from 136.182.2.25

Thanks Andy - yeah I don't know. I guess I'll just write it off as a weird day.

"don't race a 15 miler a week after racing a half." Back to back races would be a lot easier if you were a lot slower!

Scary about your throat. I've not heard of that happening. Allergies or????

From timp on Mon, Nov 08, 2010 at 20:18:00 from 136.182.2.25

yeah Fly, I need to slow down - that would help everything. I wouldn't have those weird little blisters (or whatever they are) underneath my middle toe either...

I don't know what it was about. Breathing too much in the cold maybe?

I may have stopped but I really didn;t want to get passed. It sucked getting passed. I don't like that.

How you pulled off two races in a row like that is beyond me.

As far as your throat ... WEIRD!!!

Take it easy for a few days, will you?

From timp on Tue, Nov 09, 2010 at 15:48:48 from 136.182.2.26

yeah Teena - I am just doing easy runs ths week. My legs aren't like after a marathon but have no spark at all.
